​A strongly clear and realistic layout

The story of the clandestine love between the beautiful Isotta and her Tristano has distant roots, traceable up to the Celtic period. It is the expression of that "fol amor" that has inspired literary forms among the most disparate, including the same Catalan master.
The collection that Salvador Dalì created for the medieval book of Tristano and Isotta was created between 1969 and 1970. The graphic corpus is based on a strongly clear and realistic layout, which seems to refer precisely to the millimetric precision typical of medieval miniatures. In 1944 Dalì had already interpreted the theme through the creation of costumes for the ballet "Tristano pazzo", with music by Wagner.
Tristano and Isotta was Salvador Dalì's favourite opera, it is said that he was listening to it just when he died in his house-museum in Figueras, Catalonia, in 1989.
